Enjoy a wide variety of program offerings from Roan Mountain State Park Ranger staff throughout the day as part of Halloween Fall Fun Day!  See the following activities and times for activities...

9:00 AM  Fall on the Balds guided hike--  Join Ranger Meg Guy for a 3 mile fall hike along the balds of Roan Mountain upon the beautiful Appalachian Trail.  Meet at the park headquarters to carpool to Carver's Gap.Limited to 20 hikers.  Register for free here: https://reserve.tnstateparks.com/register/fall-on-the-balds-hike

10:30 AM Creepy Crawly Ones Snake Program-- Meet Ranger Phil and some live snakes at the Visitor Center porch to learn more about these secretive and spooky creatures.  

12:30 PM Corn Husk Halloween!-- Join Ranger Meg at the scenic Miller Farmstead for a look into the folklore and Appalachian Tradition of making Corn Husk Dolls with a Halloween twist!  Limited to 20 participants, register your spot here: https://reserve.tnstateparks.com/register/corn-husk-halloween

3:00 PM Hoo-lloween owl program-- Agents of the underworld, hosts of evil spirits, and messengers of the dead, owls are regarded as a bad omen to certain Native American tribes. Join Park Ranger Keifer Helle at the Park Headquarters at 3:00 pm to learn more about owls and their meanings to certain Native American Tribes.

4:00 PM Campfire Stories and S'mores-- Join Ranger Jesse at the campground fire ring, behind Picnic Shelter 3. We will hear a terrifying tale and make s'mores (while supplies last). This is a free program with no registration. Visitors of all ages are welcome; children must be accompanied by an adult.
