Tennessee Tax-Free Weekend 2021 announced for July 31st through August 2nd, 2021.


The Tennessee Tax-Free Weekend 2021 begins at at 12:01 a.m.. on Friday, July 31st and ends Sunday, August 2nd at 11:59 p.m. Every year, more than a dozen states host tax-free weekends. These tax holidays let you buy back-to-school essentials, prep your home for natural disasters, and stock up on other necessities without having to pay sales tax. A list of tax-free items and their limits are below. 

Clothing – $200 or less

School Supplies - $200 or less

Computers & Other Electronics - $3,000 or less.

Virginia Tax-Free Weekend 2021 announced for August 6th through August 8th, 2021.

During the combined sales tax holiday period, consumers may purchase qualified items exempt of the sales and use tax. The holiday is not restricted to Virginia residents. Anyone purchasing exempt items during the holiday in Virginia, or buying exempt items for immediate delivery to a Virginia address is eligible.  


Virginia exempts the following categories of goods during its tax-free weekend:

  • School supplies
  • Clothing and footwear
  • Hurricane preparedness products
  • Energy Star and WaterSense-certified efficient products
