The Washington County- Johnson City Health Department provides traditional public health services to residents of the surrounding communities.
Our mission is to protect, promote, and improve the health and prosperity of the people in Tennessee. We have many departments that are equipped to provide the best care possible including general community services, women’s health services, and dental health services for children.
General services include Vital Records, primary care, immunizations, nutrition education and health promotion. The health promotion staff works to educate the community on health-related topics such as nutrition, exercise and tobacco prevention. Pictured below is the Tobacco Prevention S.W.A.T. Team (Super Heroes Working Against Tobacco).
Women’s Health Services include family planning consultations, pregnancy testing, prenatal education classes and Women, Infants and Children (WIC) supplemental food program. Children’s services include TennCare Kids as well as several home visiting programs including Child Health and Development (CHAD), Children’s Special Services (CSS), and Help Us Grow Successfully (HUGS).
The Dental Program aims at providing preventative and restorative dental services to children ages 3 to 21. During the school year, eligible children from the Washington County and Johnson City school systems are bussed into the clinic for treatment during two daily sessions. The Washington County-Johnson City Health Department is open from 8:00am-4:30pm, Monday through Friday.
